Solomiya Shpak

Postdoctoral Fellow at George Mason University, Assistant Professor at Kyiv School of Economics, Chief Expert, Financial Stability Department at National Bank Of Ukraine

Solomiya has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Kyiv School of Economics and Research Economist at the Financial Stability Department of the National Bank of Ukraine since 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Mason University and an MA in Economics from Kyiv School of Economics and the University of Houston. Her research focuses on firm-level productivity, access to credit and job creation, labor market outcomes as well as impact evaluations of various policies such as privatization, banking system regulation, domestic violence criminalization, and motherhood policies in transition countries. Her papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Political Science, Journal of Comparative Economics, and Comparative Economic Studies. Solomiya worked as a consultant at the World Bank and International Food Policy Research Institute. Currently, Solomiya is a post-doctoral fellow at George Mason University and teaches Labor economics at the Economics Department of the University of Maryland, College Park (USA) where she holds the position of Visiting Assistant Professor.
