Bastian Westbrock is assistant professor of Microeconomic Theory at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. His research focusses on social networks and their implications for such diverse economic issues as the innovative capability of firms, income inequality or macroeconomic development. His work, which is mostly theoretical, has among others been published in the Rand Journal of Economics, the Journal of Technology Transfer, and the Journal of Management. In his most recent projects, he looks at the macroeconomic implications of an emergent global production network, in particular the cross-country propagation of shocks. Another recent project is related to the microeconomics of networks, where he studies the tension between fair and efficient recourse allocations in complex network games.
