The IAB in Nuremberg and HWWI in Hamburg invite you to submit a paper to the TOM workshop which will be held on July 2-3, 2010.
We welcome contributions from the following fields:
- Human capital investments and migration
- Macro impacts of international mobility
- Political economy of immigration policies
The workshop will provide scholars the opportunity to discuss current topics and state-of-the-art methods in the field of migration research.
The workshop is open to researchers contributing to the TOM project, carried out within a Marie Curie Research Training Network.

This Conference wraps-up four years of Europe-wide research on the Transnationality of Migrants, carried out within a Marie Curie
Research Training Network led by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with the support of CEPR. The goal of the conference is to
present the main research findings produced within the network, and to promote interaction between researchers involved in
the network and leading figures both in the international academic community and in the policy making arena.
TOM workshop on "Illegal Immigration and the Effects of Immigration on destination countries"

As part of the activities of the TOM RTN, the Centro Studi Luca d'Agliano is organising a workshop on "Illegal Immigration and the Effects of Immigration on destination countries" which will be held on May 6-7 2010 at the University of Milan.

Some funding might be available to cover part of the expenses of former TOM Early stage and experienced researchers.

The Transnationality of Migrants International Workshop on “Migration Potentials from and to Turkey”

The idea of the workshop was to bring together around 20 scholars from research centers, mainly specialized in migration research,
to exchange ideas and share different perspectives on the topic. During the workshop we addressed the historical dimension,
possible scenarios as well as challenges and opportunities arising from migrations.
This included labor market aspects, push and pull factors, volumes (numbers of migrants), profiles of migrants,
regional distributions, patterns of migration potential, current migration panorama,
future trends, demographic factors and policy aspects in the context of a possible EU accession.

We aim to bring together scholars and especially young researchers from universities, research institutions, and international organisations to create fruitful dialogue, share the latest findings, and exchange experiences.
