Elisenda Estruch is a young researcher, specialized in international
economics and migration. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics
(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain 2003) and a Masters Degree in
European Economics (College of Europe, Brugge, Belgium 2004). Some early
professional experience was developed in Brussels, where first she was a
trainee at the European Commission, DF ECFIN, dealing with labour market
reforms and pensions systems in Europe and next, she acquired experience in
project management for cooperation for development, both at EuropeAid and as
fellow with a scholarship of the European Assembly of Regions in a consultancy
specialized in development projects. At the moment, and since September 2005,
she is PhD candidate at the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy, where she is
studying Labour Markets reforms and Migration in Europe. Her main researcg
interest is on applied labour economics and migration, as well as on issues
related to remittances, particularly on the impact of remittances on
development.
