William Hynes is currently a doctoral candidate at Oxford University.
He completed MLitt and MSc degrees in economics at Trinity College Dublin,
under the supervision of Professor Kevin O’Rourke. He was a pre-doctoral fellow in
the Unifying the European Experience RTN at the London School of Economics (2005-06).
He worked on the Aid-for-Trade initiative as a Junior Economic Affairs Officer in the Office
of the Deputy Director General (2006) and the Trade and Finance Division (2007) at the World
Trade Organisation.
His research interests are in interwar deglobalisation, colonial trade, aid, trade and development, United States economic history in the 1960s and 70s and crime surges.
