Simon Evenett appointed to the UK Competition Commission

Simon Evenett has been appointed as a Reporting Panel Member of the Commission from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2017.
Evenett is Professor of International Trade and Economic Development at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and Co-Director of the CEPR Programme in International Trade and Regional Economics.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University. He taught at Oxford and Rutgers University, served twice as a World Bank official, and was a non-resident Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution.
He is Member of the High Level Group on Globalisation established by the French Trade Minister Christine LaGarde, Member of the Warwick Commission on the Future of the Multilateral Trading System After Doha, and was Member of the Zedillo Committee on the Global Trade and Financial Architecture.
His research interests include national and international cartels, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and the pros and cons of international norms on competition law and policy.
