Economists have recently started to explore the role of cultural traits and beliefs, cultural diversity,
social norms as well as endogenous preferences for a wide range of socio-economic interactions. Such elements
seem to be crucial for the well functioning of institutions and legal systems. The purpose of this conference is
to provide an opportunity to present and discuss the most recent research perspectives on these topics.
- Dynamic models of cultural transmission and cultural diversity
- Cultural diversity and discrimination
- Political economy of culture and institutions
- Socioeconomic and cultural determinants of crime
- Globalization, migration and cultural evolution
- Social capital and economic development
- Evolution of culture and institutional change
- Segregation, integration, and conflicts
- Historical origins of culture and institutions
This event is the follow up to the SUS.DIV - CEPR - PSE Conference "Models of Cultural Dynamics and Diversity" (held at PSE, 11-13 December 2008) and the arrival point of the Research Project on "Economic analysis of crime and social interactions" promoted by the University of Padua.
