The Centre for Economic Policy Research
CEPR is an independent, not-for-profit research organization currently employing 17 staff. CEPR is a unique network made up of more than 750 researchers based throughout Europe. It coordinates the research activities of the network from its London office, providing central administrative and support services. It promotes economic research and disseminates the results of that research in a form that is accessible to non-specialists in the policy and business communities, as well as among academics.
CEPR organises more than 80
conferences, workshops and dissemination meetings each year, in more than 20 countries
The Centre's publications programme is equally busy, disseminating over 600 Discussion

The Role
The overall purpose of the position will be to develop more effective communications with the Centre's corporate membership base, and to strengthen and improve CEPR's visibility amongst the private and public sector communities. The job will involve maintaining current member relationships as well as leading the implementation of outreach and dissemination initiatives targeted at private sector and government clients across the UK and Europe.
This is a 'high visibility' position at the interface between CEPR, its sponsors and its target communities in the public and private sectors. The role will require a very high standard of organization, efficiency and diplomacy in order to ensure the execution of the job at a standard commensurate with CEPR's reputation. Key Objectives and Responsibilities

Responsibility for managing the administration of the corporate membership programme and for developing a pro-active programme of engagement and communication with CEPR's members.

Responsibility for identifying potential opportunities and for organizing dissemination events with corporate members and other sponsors with the purpose of promoting CEPR's work amongst the private and public sectors.
Specifically, the post-holder will:

Manage the administrative responsibilities of the Membership Programme. This will involve monitoring the issue and collection of members' subscriptions, drafting correspondence to corporate members and central bank donors, proof-reading documents, fielding telephone calls, maintaining files, keeping an appointments diary and handling expenses.
- Actively manage customer relationships with existing corporate and government members; soliciting member feedback on CEPR activities and services; and communicating regularly with the member base to apprise them of opportunities to access CEPR research via publications, meetings, or personal contact with researchers
- Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, and in close collaboration with the Meetings Manager, take responsibility for the organisation of specific dissemination activities related to the corporate membership of the Centre and other sponsors. For example, you will organize regular dissemination meetings (around 12-20 per year) designed to promote specific research or to launch specific publications. These events are often hosted by our corporate members. You will also help to organize corporate member Briefings held with CEPR researcher(s) and assist with the bi-annual CEPR Economic Policy Roundtables. You will also assist the COO in organizing the Centre's annual Executive Committee meeting which will be attended by a number of representative from CEPR's corporate members.
- Organize and maintain appropriate systems including follow up procedures and generate reports to track corporate membership activity and donations inflow. You will also help create systems and programmes to increase corporate members' activity; follow up on donation/membership commitments; and respond to service requests.
- Maintain a corporate member database, relationship history information, and track members' activity and engagement with the Centre.
Responsibility
The post-holder will report to the Chief Operating Officer, who currently has oversight of the Centre's Corporate Membership programme and Meetings Department. The position is full-time requiring a time commitment of 5 days per week.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will combine an interest in and/or familiarity with the current European economic climate and policy issues, with the tact, diplomacy and administrative ability to administer and coordinate the activities of the membership programme and to lead a busy and high-profile series of outreach and dissemination events. The role will also require a highly developed ability to communicate both in writing and directly in person with our corporate members and other high profile individuals and groups.
In addition he/she will have:
- Education to degree level (preferably related to business, marketing or economics)
- Two to three years work experience, preferably in the corporate sector or in an academic environment
- Marketing or Sales experience especially valuable, as is experience in Events Management
- Computer literacy: experience in use of databases, word processing and spreadsheets. Be adept with the internet for research purposes; be able to create Powerpoint presentations; and be comfortable working with basic IT systems
- Excellent command of English and meticulous proof-reading skills
- Proficiency in at least one other European language desirable
- Have the diplomacy, self-confidence and maturity to deal effectively and professionally with a wide variety of individuals, including those from the private sector, government, and academics
- Be resourceful, able to operate both on your own initiative as well as under supervision
Be exceptionally well organized and adept at handling administrative responsibilities
