Oxford has invited several speakers to the Oxford Financial Research Centre seminar series. They include: Roberta Dessi (IDEI), Yrjo Koskinen (SSE), Rafael Repullo (CEMFI, although came from London), and Javier Suarez (CEMFI).

Colin Mayer co-organized the UFA workshop on Corporate Governance in Madrid 2001. Koen Schoors presented the paper "Sources of Funds and Investment Strategies of Venture Capital Funds: Evidence from Germany, Israel, Japan and the UK", co-authored with Colin Mayer and Yishay Yafeh.

Brussels invited Michael Manove (CEMFI) for a two week visit. During this visit Michael Manove gave a seminar and interacted with doctoral researchers and faculty.

The creation of the European Corporate Governance Institute (see section on "The European Corporate Governance Institute") involved extensive networking through e-mail, telephone and personal meetings. In particular future ECGI board members Becht (ECARES-Brussels), Dewatripont (ECARES-Brussels), Mayer (Oxford), Ferrarini (Salerno), Goldschmidt (Network Advisory Committee) met and interacted extensively.
