EuroCOIN confirms Euro Area growth slowing
The latest value of the EuroCOIN indicator released by CEPR shows:
-
CEPR's EuroCOIN confirms the pause of euro area economic growth for August 2004 that was first recorded in July, after a period of accelerating activity.
-
EuroCOIN decreased from a quarterly growth rate of 0.610 in July to 0.566 in August.
-
The most recent data led to a moderate downward revision for June and July.
-
The overall indicator combines information coming from different macroeconomic variables. Positive signals come from industrial production, while interest rates, labour variables and surveys point to a slowdown.
-
All components of the indicator point to a decline in growth except the industrial production series.
-
EuroCOIN figures from May 2004 are provisional and may revised next month.
