The meeting Global Economic Governance: Global Systemic Challenges, Institutional Responses, and the Role of the New Actors is being organised by the collaborative project "Politics, Economics, and Global Governance: The European Dimension" (PEGGED, a project funded by the Seventh EU Framework Programme for Research), in conjunction with Directorate General Research and the Bureau of European Policy Advisors of the European Commission.

The meeting will discuss two urgent global challenges - to do with the international financial system and the global trade regime. It will consider the implications of these challenges for global institutions and for global governance, and it will examine the role for emerging market economies in developing the appropriate global governance responses. It will also assess the role which Europe might play in promoting the necessary changes in governance.

This meeting will last from 10:00 to approximately 17:30
